I’m Back

Man, these post dont write themselves I see. I have really let this place go, and I will be fixing that over the next few weeks. The first two weeks of Feb saw me continue my rather large down turn and I tend to bitch and moan during those. I didn’t watn to turn this place into some sob story blog, so I just stayed away.

About a week ago, I finally used my poker winnings on a somewhat large purchase. I bought myself a new computer. I had been sharing one and that severly limited my playing time. Plus, it was old and didn’t run PT that well and the Crypto sites just bogged it down. Then there was the overlap on tables. Now I have a nice new machine, a new 19 inch monitor and I’m ready to go. I also picked up an older computer that I will eventually install Linux on and use that as my database server for PT.

Since buying the new computer, I have been on an absolute tear. The cards have been amazing the past week or so. I hit my flops when I raise, if I dont hit, they fold to my continuation bets. Or, they call and I hit the turn. Someone hits a set on the turn and that card gives me the nut straight, all kinds of crazy stuff.

I was a bit concerned about buying the new computer. It took a big hit on my bankroll. It didn’t cause me to drop down levels or anything, but I am pretty anal about having 400-500 BB’s when I play and I was right on the edge when I cashed out to buy it. Luckily, I made that money up in about 1 1/2 days and then some.

For the first two weeks of Feb, I was stuck about $700 or so. Now I am plus $800 for the month, or right around there. Hey, I just realized something. I achieved my goal for Feb and won $1500!! Well, OK, not exactly

Family First

I didn’t play Thursday or Friday. My Grandpa had surgery and I was at the hospital visiting him and family. All is well though, so that is good. Back to it today!

Decent Day

Started out today playing some $100 NL short handed. Did OK during the day, took a break to eat dinner and all hell broke loose. I got AA and raised it, got two callers. It was a low flop with a possible straight draw so I bet the pot. One folded and one called, turn was a blank and I went all in to chase him off the draw. He called and hit his 4 out gutshot straight draw to take the pot. One buy in gone.

About 10 minutes later I get AA again on my other table. Flopped the set and someone pushes. No flush draw, no straight draw, nothing. I gladly push the rest of my stack in and come to find out, he was pushing with the second pair on the board. So I quickly won back the buy in I had lost 10 minutes earlier. Not much else happened other then those two hands, just took down a bunch of small pots really. I only got in about 500 hands and finished up $48.10.

I did play nine $11 SNG’s on Stars tonight. I took 1st once, 2nd four times and one third and cleared $72. I probably would have taken another first, except I ran into fellow ITH’er niin and he smoked me when it got heads up. He was very aggressive and played very well. I could use a lesson from him when it comes to being aggressive.

I need to start spacing out my start times on the SNG’s though. I was heads up in 2 at a time and it got to be a bit much. I thought I had spaced them enough, but a lot of people got bounced pretty fast in the second one and it made the timing off a bit.

I think I might take a whole day on Saturday and just play SNG’s and see how I do. I am playing pretty good lately and I am confident in my game. It would be nice to see a full days results instead of these hit and runs. Oh yeah, I just deleted the last two days of Jan. It was screwing up my record keeping, so I will just have to accomplish the goal in 28 days.

Well, the goals for this month got off to a bumpy start. First, I dropped about $55 at $1/$2 6-max over at Stars in about 600 hands. Then I lost a full buy in at $50 NL 6-max to put me in a $105 hole right away.

I ran four $5.50 SNG’s over at Stars and took a first and third, so I made like .50 on that. Then I decided to move up and give the $11’s a shot and won one, and missed the money on the others. Made like a dollar off of that.

Then today on my second hand of the day, I get a set of 9’s on the flop and get the guy all in on the turn and he spikes his T on the river to beat my set. I was worried that was a sign of things to come, and boy was it. I proceeded to drop 3 more buy in’s during the day. I then made a comeback later in the night, winning quite a bit and actually recovering the 3 buy in’s and a little more.

I was running well, so figured I would take a shot at $100 NL 6-max. Got off to a really hot start and won about $70 in 30 hands or so. I ended up giving about $30 of it back through some dumb moves and bad beats. Had a guy beat till the river and he spiked an A for his straight. Then, this hand happened. I am still thinking I should have called it, he said he had 2 pair but who knows.
