Failed Again

Posted by MaxPen on March 25, 2006

I can already tell I will fall short of my 30k hand goal for the month of March.  I played a lot more tournaments then I expected this month and that cut into my ring game time somewhat.  I’m going to try and ramp it up next week and finish with a good 10k hand week.

I have been on fire in tournaments lately.  About a week ago, I played in a $3 + .30 MTT and did OK.  I took something like 145th or something and made a few bucks.  Well, one buck to be exact, but thats better then no bucks I guess.  Then a few nights ago I gave one of the Stars $4 + .40 180 man SNG’s a run.  I took 7th in that for a cool $18.65 or something crazy like that.

Last night was the crowning achievment though.  I played in 8 $11 18 man sng’s on Stars and finished in the money for 5 of them.  I took 2 thirds, 2 2nds and a first.  I then ran a $22 18 man sng and took a 3rd for $72.  I then proceeded to bust out of 2 $11 18 man sngs in a row, so the magic is gone.

I deposited over Holdempoker to get their 20% up to $100 bonus and started playing on the  5-max tables to clear it.  After about 10 minutes, one of my tables will freeze up.  I won’t be able to bet, check, raise, nothing.  I cant even close the table.  When that happens, it also stops writing hands to Poker Tracker.  So I had a bunch of hands that I missed.  I emailed support about the problem and never got an answer back.  So, I yanked my money out and it is doubtful you will ever see me at holdempoker again.

I have no problem when things get messed up.  It happens.  But the mark of a good company is one that takes care of those mistakes.  Stars is a perfect example on that.  Not everything runs perfect over there, but when they screw something up they go out of their way to fix it.  When you email support, you almost always have some sort of answer within the hour.  That is customer service at its finest and that is a company I want to give my business to.

All Kinds Of Bonus Money

Posted by MaxPen on March 21, 2006

It really is a good time to be a bonus whore in the poker world. Sites are tossing around bonuses like crazy. Right now, I have $2500 in bonus money at Bayou Poker, $550 at Doyles Room, $500 at Victor Chandler, $300 at Full Tilt, and $100 at Holdempoker. On top of that, I missed the $600 bonus at Betsson.

The Bayou one looks real promising. 100% up to $2500 and it clears at 7x. According to BonusWhores, it should clear at about $11.40 per table hour at 2/4 6 max. Playing 3 tables at a time, that is pretty good. Even if I break even in my play, I can make over $200 a day in bonus money.

As a test, I deposited into Holdempoker’s reload, 20% up to $100 at 10x. I am going to 3 table that and see how many points I get an hour and then make a plan to attack the Bayou bonus. The best thing about the Bayou bonus, you get the $2500 in your bonus account and can then move parts of it to the active portion of your account to clear in smaller chunks. So I can take $300 and move it to the active portion, clear it, then put another $300 in and clear that. I just hate doing real long bonus chases. It’s nice getting that fat lump sum at the end, but getting there is a struggle sometimes.

Screw Tournaments

Posted by MaxPen on March 15, 2006

6 max is finally clicking.

I still suck at tournaments.

That is all.
